The usual choices are tiles or slates - but if that sounds easy, well there are several different types of both. Tiles traditionally are made of clay, usually of a type found locally, but today other materials are very common.

The roof is one of the most important parts of your home, it keeps you dry and warm, but surprisingly it’s one of the most neglected. With the constant changes with the weather etc we know the damage that can be caused by water that can seep through into the property. Other factors would be to protect your roof from strong winds or a storm.

The roof needs regular maintenance to ensure there are no damaged or cracked tiles, ensuring that sealer is used where possible and even cosmetically, if it needs a clean then it can be pressure washed or painted so pleasing to the eye.

Even pressure washing your roof could prolong the life of it as this will prevent the build up of mould and lichen which can cause your roof tiles to become fragile, creating cracks, all leading to water leaks in the future that can possibly cause some damage and even lead to structural weakness, leaving your roof vulnerable during strong wind or a storm.

Roofs can be made from all type of materials, some people may choose to have a flat roof whereas others may have tiles or slates, types can be pantiles, clay tiles, concrete, plain tiles or stone, concrete and fibe cement slates.
